Job Description:

Summary:
NHPR is seeking a Reporter to focus on the issues directly shaping the lives of the state’s kids, teens and their families. That includes stories that examine how people in power address challenges around education funding, childcare, supporting students’ social and emotional health, and more. We want this reporter to think beyond the State House and school board meetings, focusing instead on the daily lives of young people and their families.

Our ideal candidate will have a background in journalism — audio experience is helpful but not required — and will be ready to jump on breaking news as needed. But we are seeking someone who can think beyond the daily news cycle and dig into stories that require deeper, more intentional reporting. We’re looking for a journalist who’s enthusiastic about community engagement, through in-person source-building and digital outreach, to understand what issues matter to kids and families across New Hampshire.

This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid position based in New Hampshire, reporting to a Sr. Editor. This position is covered under our collective bargaining agreement with SAG-AFTRA. The role will be classified as either a Reporter (with a minimum salary of $56,900) or a Senior Reporter (with a minimum salary of $65,300), depending on the chosen applicant’s experience level. We also consider internal equity, among other factors when deciding compensation.
