Morning Traffic Anchor / Noon Anchor

WTAE-TV, the ABC affiliate in Pittsburgh, PA is now hiring a Traffic Anchor. This person will also anchor the Noon show on weekdays. We need a good storyteller who has excellent on-air presence and engagement skills. We want someone who can captivate our viewers on social media and a journalist who will grow this position. You will report to the News Director.

Responsibilities

• Prepare morning reports with graphics
• News gather for traffic reports
• Provide concise live traffic reports for morning show
• Research and report up-to-the-minute traffic conditions
• Communicate important traffic information to the show producers and show anchors promptly
• Make sure that corresponding graphics, video and live shots are used accurately
• Communicate morning traffic information to viewers through digital platforms including our station website, mobile app, and social media pages
• Produce transportation related stories and present traffic information in the field
• Anchor the weekday Noon newscasts

Requirements

• Professional or college experience as a journalist and storyteller in a commercial television station
• Experience using traffic systems preferred
• Suited to ad-lib in breaking news situations
• Clear speech, basic knowledge of how to use a computer and basic knowledge of social media
• Familiar with street and highway names and directions; quick to learn
• Must be creative and work well with others
• Related military experience will be considered
