Job Description

Pennon News is seeking an experienced audio journalist who is passionate about reporting and the art of audio storytelling for the position of podcast reporter/producer. The podcast reporter/producer works with a team of multimedia journalists on a mix of short-term episodes, mid-range enterprise audio stories and longer-form series. This position also serves as field producer, researcher and audio specialist in the newsroom, pairing with reporters in the field to ensure enough audio is gathered for storytelling purposes. The successful candidate is skilled in and passionate about journalism and the art of storytelling, and will work in one of Pennsylvania’s largest newsrooms alongside journalists who are committed to listening and being directly responsive to readers.

Funded by a one-year grant with possible renewal.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, mass communications or related field is required, with a proven knowledge and experience working with current media creation tools including audio editing software and contemporary newsroom systems.
• Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics and story structure.
• Team player who enjoys a fast-paced work environment.

Work environment/equipment:

• Required to use a computer monitor, keyboard, and mouse for extended periods of time.
• Proficient use of PC, laptop, smartphone, tablet, photo/video equipment
• Ability to work nights or weekends
