Award-Winning Investigative News Publication Seeks Executive Editor
The award-winning investigative news publication Capital & Main is seeking an executive editor to lead its editorial department. The position is based in Los Angeles and offers a great opportunity to join a growing newsroom of passionate, talented journalists.
We are looking for an editor with at least ten years of experience in both investigative and narrative journalism to lead a small team of highly skilled reporters and editors. The most important qualifications for this position are as follows:
The executive editor, in collaboration with the publisher, oversees all editorial content for Capital & Main and is responsible for ensuring that the publication produces between 20 and 30 stories a month. This includes news and news analysis, investigative stories, narrative articles, data analysis, interviews and multimedia content. The editor works closely with the management team, staff writers and freelance contributors. Stories are written both by staff reporters and freelance contributors.
As part of the leadership team, the editor should be deeply interested in innovation. The editor helps drive Capital & Main’s strategic initiatives in impact, audience, use of new formats and platforms to reach a broad public.
The executive editor oversees Capital & Main’s editorial standards to ensure independent, transparent news coverage while also partnering with other media outlets and participating in fundraising efforts.
