Job Description

NHPR is looking for an enthusiastic digital journalist to join our team as an Audience Engagement Producer, with a focus on optimizing our storytelling across social and digital platforms.
In this role, you will be part of the NHPR Audience Team, which is responsible for growing the reach and impact of our news, podcasts and programming across platforms. By design, our team is highly collaborative — working closely with NHPR’s newsroom and other editorial partners across the organization.
Your primary focus will be to help NHPR’s work reach a wide audience across social and digital platforms. But you should be eager to do more than just draft and schedule social copy. The right person for this position is excited about experimenting with new approaches to social and digital storytelling — and is invigorated by the challenge of outsmarting the algorithms to get trustworthy information to the forefront.
This is a full-time, exempt, hybrid-eligible role based in New Hampshire, reporting to our Senior Audience Editor. Applicants must be willing to live within 100 miles of our newsroom, which is headquartered in Concord, New Hampshire. This position is part of the SAG-AFTRA bargaining unit, with a budgeted salary range of $60,300 - $64,200 depending on qualifications. We also consider internal equity, among other factors, when deciding compensation.
Essential Duties Include:
  • On a daily basis, ensure timely and consistent updates to NHPR social platforms (Today, that includes Facebook, Threads, X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube).

  • On an ongoing basis, look for opportunities to share NHPR content with social audiences outside of NHPR’s owned social channels (for example: on Reddit, in public Facebook communities or other forums relevant to the topic at hand).
  • On an ongoing basis, work with NHPR’s Senior Audience Editor and other colleagues to enhance the presentation of special projects, podcasts and programming segments on social and digital platforms.

Other Responsibilities Include:
  • As needed, assist with optimizing NHPR news, podcast and programming content for NHPR.org.
  • As needed, accompany NHPR journalists on assignment to gather photos, video or other material for use on social or digital platforms.
  • As needed, represent NHPR on camera and in person to promote awareness of our work
  • As needed, assist with sharing updates about new programs, station news and events, membership messaging and more, to further grow and engage our audience.
  • As needed, participate in station fundraising activities.
Qualifications:
  • 1 - 3 years of experience working in a digital news environment. (This could include undergraduate experience.)

  • Experience producing and optimizing content for social media platforms (such as Facebook, Threads, X, Bluesky, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube).
  • Exceptional writing and copy editing skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail, accuracy and fact-checking
  • Demonstrated ability to summarize information in clear and concise formats.
  • Ability to maintain a consistent and conversational brand voice on social platforms.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience producing social video or visualizations is a plus.
  • Familiarity with New Hampshire or New England is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Sprout Social, Google Analytics or similar tools is a plus.
However, we know there are great candidates who may not have all these qualities or who have important skills we may not have outlined above. If this is you, do not hesitate to apply and tell us about yourself.
Benefits:
NHPR offers a generous benefits package that includes health, dental and vision insurance;  company paid short- and long-term disability; flexible spending accounts; 403(b) savings plan with company match and a free on-site fitness center. Three weeks of vacation, twelve paid holidays, two floating personal days, and paid sick and parental leave.
