Job Summary

The Engagement Producer will be a key player at KUUB 88.3, Utah’s first bilingual public radio station, working closely with the Program Director to manage the station’s community engagement efforts, social media presence, and event coordination. KUUB 88.3 broadcasts in both English and Spanish with a focus on music, culture, community and public affairs. This role is vital in connecting the station with its audience both online and in person, ensuring that the station’s programming reflects community interests and needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in community outreach, social media management, and event planning. Experience working with non-profits, especially within Latino or diverse communities, and basic video editing skills for social media platforms like TikTok are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  1. Collaborate with the Programming Director to ensure that community engagement efforts are integrated into on-air content and that on-air content supports community engagement initiatives.

  2. Develop and implement social media strategies across platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, TikTok) to increase engagement and grow the station’s audience. Assist with the promotion of on-air content through social media and community channels.

  3. Work with the Program Director to plan and execute events, both virtual and in person, that align with the station’s mission and goals; that promote the station and engage the local audience.

  4. Gather community feedback and insights to inform the station’s programming and content development.

  5. Create, curate, and manage content for social media, ensuring alignment with the station’s brand and goals.

  6. Produce and edit video content for social media, with a focus on engaging formats for platforms like TikTok and Instagram Reels.

  7. Act as a key station representative at community events alongside Program Director, building relationships with local organizations and listeners. Develop and maintain partnerships with community leaders, organizations, and influencers.


Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Mass Communications, English, Liberal Arts, or a related area, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Experience in word processing and web page design preferred. Experience in public relations work or the print news media also preferred.

  • Proficiency in social media platforms and tools, with the ability to create and manage content effectively.
  • Basic video editing skills for creating engaging content on platforms like TikTok and Instagram.
