Communications Associate or
Senior Communications Associate

Be Clear is a boutique communications and strategy consultancy that seeks to build a better, more progressive world by helping people and organizations tell their stories. Founded by four alumni of the Obama Administration, Be Clear works across a range of issues. Our clients fight to bring justice to education policy, to turn the tide in the fight against climate change, to reduce economic inequality, and to protect and strengthen American democracy. Our services range from strategy development to press relations; from crisis management to training promising leaders for high-pressure media environments.
An Associate at Be Clear will:
Generate well-written first drafts of content including press releases, blogs, op-eds, and web copy
Create and post social media content across a range of platforms
Cultivate reporter relationships, pitch stories, and place op-eds
Develop high-quality presentations and memos
Develop client meeting agendas, create and track project management plans, create and manage media lists, monitor media
Compile and send daily news clips
Manage Be Clear newsletter and email list
In addition to the above, a Senior Associate will:
Create drafts of written materials that require minimal editing to be client-ready
Provide strategic input in client meetings and help manage client relationships
Generate creative tactical ideas for earned and social media
Plan and execute rollouts of reports, announcements, and other media moments
This is a full-time, remote position (must live in U.S.) with domestic travel expected several times per year.
The base salary range for a Communications Associate is $60,000-$75,000, commensurate with experience.
The base salary range for a Senior Communications Associate is $78,000-$95,000, commensurate with experience.

An Associate at Be Clear will share our passion for using the power of communications and storytelling to build a better, more progressive world and have:
2+ years professional communications or closely-related experience, preferably in government, campaigns, journalism, advocacy or similarly fast-paced environments
Strong writing and editing skills, including copy-editing
Project management expertise
Knowledge of social media strategy on platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn
Great judgment and a track record of working collaboratively to solve problems
Capacity to succeed in a dynamic work environment that frequently requires multitasking and balancing competing demands
Fluency in and unwavering commitment to advancing issues of racial justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion
A Senior Associate will possess all of the above plus:
4+ years professional communications or closely-related experience, preferably in government, campaigns, journalism, advocacy or similarly fast-paced environments
Project management expertise with experience executing successful media rollouts and/or digital media campaigns
Experience working with journalists to successfully pitch stories
A strong and nuanced understanding of the political and policy news media landscape
Additional consideration will be given for:
Spanish fluency
Graphic design and video editing skills’
Pre-existing relationships with relevant journalists
