Audio Producer II, City Lights

 

WABE seeks an experienced Audio Producer II for City Lights, WABE’s daily audio program exploring the vibrancy of the arts and culture scene in metro Atlanta. The Audio Producer II is responsible for high level multi-track editing and sound design to create an engaging, sound-rich daily radio program/podcast. This role involves technical editing, restorative audio skills, content editing, and proven expertise in sound design. The Audio Producer II is a core role on the City Lights team, working with multiple contributors, correspondents, and hosts to ensure program content is completed on time and meets broadcast-quality standards.

 

Accountabilities:

  • Produces final audio mixes on multiple pieces of content daily, to include interviews, feature reports, and segments created by City Lights contributors and producers.
  • Reviews and edits program content to ensure sound quality and concise storytelling. Incorporates sound design to enhance segments for increased listener engagement.
  • Is readily available during the workday for pick-up edits that could come in on the fly.
  • Communicates with Executive Producer on timelines, deadlines and workflow.
  • Identifies and downloads music, film, and television clips as needed for production.
  • Reports use of copyrighted music used in City Lights to Operations team when required for compliance with licensing agreements.
  • Pitches and creates original content for show.
  • Participates in team meetings to review pitches and plan program content.
  • Contributes to the execution of live events or broadcasts.
  • Participates in radio fundraising activities and related production as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Four-year college degree in journalism/communications or other applicable field preferred; equivalent experience in radio production or digital media production may also be considered.
  • 3-5 years’ experience using Adobe Audition (or equivalent digital audio software) for multi-track audio editing for published long-form radio and/or podcast programming.
  • Proficiency in advanced audio editing skills including technical restoration of challenged audio and creating engaging sound design for published audio.
  • At least 3 years’ experience creating and editing original content, including script writing and voice recording.

 

Abilities and Traits:  

  • Ability to flawlessly execute edits in a fast-paced environment. Speed and accuracy are key for this position.
  • Enjoys working with a team and understands that each team member’s workflow is interdependent.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • A keen ear for strong storytelling, engaging audio and sound design.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to overall team goals.
  • Ability to work under pressure and commit to deadlines.
  • Prior knowledge about Atlanta’s Arts and Culture communities is preferred.
